The Battle of Castobel
Lord Commander Ebongrave
The Dark Hand of the Canis Salient
Sebiascor Ebongrave was a capable, even heroic officer, who distinguished himself among the cavalry of the Dhkasin Hussars and became a trusted adviser to Warmaster Tetrarchus before being given command of the Canis Salient. Ebongrave has not borne his role well.
This once-dashing cavalryman is a bitter, graying man who rarely leaves his fortified situation rooms in the Achilian Bastion. He has become increasingly paranoid and has ordered purges of regimental commanders, naval officer classes and Imperial governors, sometimes at the vaguest of suggestion of Tau sympathies or ideological weakness. No matter how impossible the fight against the Tyranids becomes, he refuses to countenance diverting troops and ships from fighting the Tau. Some believe he is losing his grip on reality, while others think he sees reality all too well and is the only man who appreciates just how devious his xenos foes really are.
During his campaign in the Canis Salient, Ebongrave has gained the name of “the Dark Hand” by the crusade forces, and his decisions have been brought to the attention of Lord Solar Tetrarchus himself. The Lord Solar is unconvinced that he should have a commander of this caliber in his staff, and has uttered his complete trust in this servant of the Emperor.
